Craftsman Shutters and More Custom Shutter Frames for San Diego06/26/2017Kimball Jones It doesn’t happen often, but we’ve heard a San Diego homeowner or two claim that “all shutters look the same.” Let’s eliminate any misconception – those claims couldn’t be further from reality. Most people don’t realize just how many options you have when it comes to interior plantation shutters in San Diego, and the huge impact those options might have. One of the most important of those options is the style of shutter frame you pick. San Diego Custom Shutter Frames The options available to you for shutter frames will depend on four things primarily: The shape of your window. The depth of the window sill. Whether you’ll have an outside mount or inside mount. Your own personal taste and design. Some of our shutter frames are only available in certain materials, such as our Polywood® faux wood shutters, some are exclusive to an inside or outside mount of a window, and some will be a better match for your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, ideal for Craftsman style homes and only offered by Sunburst. Here are some of the most common shutter frames we recommend to San Diego homeowners. Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t open a Better Homes and Gardens without seeing Craftsman design. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was created specifically for Craftsman style homes and homes that utilize Craftsman elements. A Craftsman frame offers a clean and simple look, so no part of your home looks out of place compared to the rest. If utilizing Craftsman fashion is what you want, this is the frame for you. Currently available in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only. L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is possibly the simplest and most functional type of shutter frame. They have a tight, contemporary look, and tend to be the easiest to work around if your window has a peculiar size or shape. The L-frame can work as either an inside or outside mount, in case you want to keep your existing window trim, and is available in all of our different shutter types. Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a common choice because they offer a stylish, elegant look to your window, similar to bass or crown molding. This frame is called a “Z-frame” because of the shape of its exterior, which is mounted on the inside of the window jamb, but wraps around to the outside in a “Z” figure. That wraparound shape means it can substitute for window trim if you don’t have any existing trim. Z-frames are available in every single one of our shutters. Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame has a lot going on in the style department. With lots of texture and an attention-grabbing shape, this frame works best for windows without any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are offered in Ovation and Polywood shutters only. Outside of the shutter frame, there are still a great deal of options for you to choose from. All of our frames can have a sill piece attachment added, as well as other add-ons your installer can walk you through.
