Sunburst supports green design, products, and buildings. We aim for reusing any and all materials whenever it’s feasible. We recycle water that cools down items as they’re finished in the ovens. We reuse packaging materials. We reuse shutter pieces – or regrind them and recycle them into new shutters. Each year we recycle hundreds of tons of materials.

Our interior shutters use patented paints that are shown to be hypoallergenic and environmentally safe. In our manufacturing method, our paints don’t emit fumes. When we claim our paints aren’t toxic, we mean it.

If you ever want to switch your window treatment styles, we offer a shutter recycling program in San Diego to keep Polywood shutters out of landfills. You simply have to remove the shutters on your own, and call our store manager at 760-405-8887 to schedule a pick-up. We will come get your shutters and reuse some of their materials in future Polywood shutters. This is the case for Polywood shutters only—we are not equipped to recycle other shutter brands.
