Not only are Polywood® shutters a fully recyclable shutter, but they also contain up to 20% recycled Polywood content. No other shutter company in San Diego – or even in America – does that.
Sunburst supports green design, products, and buildings. We aim for reusing any and all materials whenever it’s feasible. We recycle water that cools down items as they’re finished in the ovens. We reuse packaging materials. We reuse shutter pieces – or regrind them and recycle them into new shutters. Each year we recycle hundreds of tons of materials.
When we prepare our window treatments for transportation to your residence for installation, we place reusable corner pieces on the louvers’ edges and use minimal cardboard to package the shutters.
Our plantation shutters are coated with patented paint finishes that are environmentally safe – and are even lower than the accepted volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions allowed. In our manufacturing method, our paints don’t emit fumes. When we claim our paints aren’t toxic, we mean it.
Polywood Shutters do not emit dangerous gasses – so you and your family can breathe easily and enjoy your window treatments.
The Only Shutter Recycling Program in San Diego, CA
If you ever want to switch your window treatment styles, we offer a shutter recycling program in San Diego to keep Polywood shutters out of landfills. You simply have to remove the shutters on your own, and call our store manager at 760-405-8887 to schedule a pick-up. We will come get your shutters and reuse some of their materials in future Polywood shutters. This is the case for Polywood shutters only—we are not equipped to recycle other shutter brands.
With this program, there’s no cost to you for recycling Polywood shutters. And, together, we’re helping keep the environment green in San Diego.
