Check Out Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner

Tyson Williams

We’re moving through springtime here in San Diego, but we haven’t forgotten about our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest. Spring’s contest winner is Tonya S., who submitted a few photos of her new shutters that really show off some great design choices.

closed shutters in dining room

Tonya’s space features some stunning new Polywood® plantation shutters in her dining room. Because her shutters are closed, you can really get a glimpse of how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Envision that dining room with a slightly softer light; it would be a picture-perfect setting for a personal candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your dining room, you can express the mood you want no matter the time of day.

Also worth mentioning is how the white shutters complement the white trim near the floors and the white ceiling. Those neutral accents make the black table and the wood floor’s natural color shine even more.

But that wasn’t her only photo submission. She also sent in a photo of her brand-new sliding barn door shutter!

rustic barn door shutter

There’s a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. First off, it looks fantastic. The rustic look of the wood with that modern black slider up top give an enduring yet cozy look. What we like even more than the looks is the practicality of the shutter. Her barn door shutter sits on top of the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to easily open and shut.

Since her shutter sits on the frame, Tonya can still make use of that deep window jamb, too. For example, if she wanted to set some plants on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter to let it soak up some rays while keeping her home dim if she likes.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time they’ve had Sunburst install window treatments for her home, and we want to thank her for her continued support in choosing us for all her window treatment needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya will get a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

Think your shutters should be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or upload a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a Californian in our next update!

Or if Tonya’s photos make you think your house is missing a little something, we’d love to help. Call 760-405-8887 today to talk to one of Sunburst Shutters San Diego’s window design experts to begin.
